Giraffa reticulata (Reticulated giraffe) - 18"x24"
The Reticulated giraffe (Giraffa reticulata) is one of nine subspecies of giraffe and lives in the horn of Africa. Reticulated giraffe typically live in female driven groups of 3-9, but can occasionally be found solo. These herbivores spend up to 13 hours of their day eating, often from tall acacia trees where they compete only with the elephant for food. Their long necks result from an elongation of cervical vertebrae rather than an unusually large number of them.
Over the last 35 years, populations of giraffe in Africa have fallen over 30%. The Giraffe Conservation Foundation has dedicated itself to the preservation of giraffe habitat as well as rewilding giraffe in their historical range. They are currently involved in giraffe conservation programs in 18 African countries. A portion of the proceeds of this piece will be donated to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to support their efforts.
This piece is displayed in a hand built solid wood frame. Glazing is museum quality anti-glare and UV-resistant glass.
Please note: The shipping is set at $50 and is an estimate. If additional shipping fees are required, they will be billed separately.
